['This intensive, practical workshop focuses on the basics of effective presentations in English.\n\nFirst we discuss your experience, wishes and needs and then practice relaxation and warming-up techniques. We examine correct vocal production, including breath and volume control and pitch as well as crucial aspects of speech, such as articulation and modulation. We consider eye contact, body language and stage fright, and how to assess and make the best use of the physical space and possible props.\n\nYou learn how to inhabit a space, greet the audience, give opinions, make suggestions, field questions, deal with interruptions and more. Exercises to help you speak spontaneously may include pet peeves, elevator pitches, story-telling, interviewing and selling.\n\nBring a presentation with you the first day: one that you’ve already made, are preparing for work or something new. During the week we will address elements of presenting, such as beginning and ending, handling questions, interruptions and visuals, and you will have time each day to review and revise your own presentation. On the last day, you will make a 15-minute presentation that incorporates the improvements you’ve made during the week, and the group will critique your performance.\n\nThe workshop is held in English. Although most relaxation and warm-up exercises apply to presenting in all languages, specific problems with English that crop up with respect to pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar will be addressed.
