vative use of literary techniques\, such as free indirect discourse. Free

ey the thoughts and feelings of a character without directly stating them.
Austen uses this technique to great effect in Pride and Prejudice\, creat
ing a complex and nuanced portrait of her characters. In addition to examin
ing Austen's literary techniques\, the course will also explore the novel'
 s themes\, including love\, marriage\, social class\, and gender roles. St
