F8k.1 Veranstalter: Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft The main language will
be English\, but it will also be possible to ask questions in German. Scho
ols are a topic that can cause passionate debate amongst teachers\, parent
s and schoolchildren alike. But often very little is known about the schoo
l systems in other countries. And this is the starting point for the next
event in our series of Anglo-German meetings comparing life in Dortmund an
d in Dortmund’s twin city Leeds. We will be looking at questions like: A
re the schools structured in the same way? Do parents\, teachers and schoo
lchildren have a positive view of education in their area? What striking d
ifferences\, if any\, are there? The Dortmund Heisenberg-Gymnasium had an
excellent opportunity to find out answers to these questions when they vis
ited their partner school in Leeds a few weeks ago. And so we have invited
two of the teachers who accompanied the children on their trip to Leeds t
o talk about their and their pupils’ experience of school life in a Leed
s High School. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and discus
s the various issues together with Dortmund friends in Leeds who will be t
aking part online. We look forward to welcoming you to this Anglo-German m
 eeting!
